A Mission Born from Action
Forest4Future was founded with a clear mission: to take direct, hands-on action in response to the climate crisis. Rather than waiting for change, we chose to embody the change we want to see, one tree and one landscape at a time. What began as a small initiative in Italy has grown into a non-profit organization active in Italy, Germany, Canada, and India, building partnerships across continents to restore ecosystems and support local communities.
Growing Every Season
Today, our team and partners have planted more than 20,000 trees – and that number is growing every season. Each tree is a long-term investment in a healthier climate, cleaner air, and cleaner water for present and future generations. We focus on native and climate-resilient species that strengthen biodiversity, stabilize soils, and rebuild degraded habitats in the places we work.
Roots in Tuscany
Our roots lie in Tuscany, a landscape whose forests have been transformed over the last 5,000 years by climate shifts, human settlement, and agriculture. Once dominated by native deciduous trees such as oak, beech, chestnut, and maple, much of this woodland was cleared for fuel, timber, and farmland, and later replanted with non-native conifers, especially pines, in the 20th century. Between 2001 and 2024, Tuscany lost around 100,000 hectares of tree cover, accounting for roughly 20% of all tree cover loss in Italy, underscoring the urgency of restoring native, mixed forests.
A Global Challenge, A Shared Approach
The challenges we see in Tuscany are mirrored in many regions of the world, from Central Europe to North America and South Asia, where forests face pressure from deforestation, fires, and a changing climate. By expanding our work to Germany, Canada, and India, Forest4Future aims to share knowledge, adapt to local conditions, and co-create projects that are rooted in local ecosystems and communities. Across all countries, our approach is the same: plant diverse, native trees, support long-term stewardship, and measure impact in terms of both carbon and biodiversity.
Making the Window Count
We believe there is a narrow window to revert the trajectory of ecosystem degradation and to secure healthy forests, clean air, and clean water for the next generations. Forest4Future exists to make that window count—by restoring forests tree by tree, landscape by landscape, and by inviting individuals, companies, and communities to grow with us.
